Car Show

Santa Fe Vintage Car Club

We are very proud to once again partner with the Santa Fe Rotary Club to sponsor the 4th of July Family Pancake Breakfast on the Plaza car show. Reliable records indicate that the first Santa Fe speciality car gathering took place more than 100 years ago.  Our current Club (SFVCC) is heir to this legacy. Along with partnering with the Rotary for the July 4th event for nearly four decades, we also host several “Cruise Nights on the Plaza” each summer. Proceeds from these events on the historic Plaza are enthusiastically returned to the community and charitable organizations.

The Club traces its origins to 1961 when thirteen car enthusiasts formed the Santa Fe chapter of the Veterans Motor Car Club of America. (VMCCA). The “Veteran” in the club name referred to cars, rather than members.  In 1977, the Club elected to discontinue membership in the VMCCA and accordingly the name was changed to Vintage Automobile Club of Santa Fe.  Cyril Fry was the Club’s first President. Meetings and touring events were held regularly, with the inaugural cars being all pre-war marques with several Ford Model T’s from 1909-1921, a 1917 Buick, three Packards from 1928, 1931 and 1938 and 1926 and 1928 Cadillacs. Vehicles of that era continue to be found in the Club.

During the 1980’s, the Club transitioned to present-day Santa Fe Vintage Car Club.  Many of our members have been associated with our Club for several decades. SFVCC members do not necessarily own a vintage vehicle, or possibly do not live in Santa Fe, but are very supportive of our community efforts.

Registration Instructions For Participants

Enter the venue from the west end of Palace, then turn left on Lincoln.  You will then be directed to the registration booth and vehicle parking.  No vehicles can be parked on Lincoln the night before. Violators will be towed. Registration begins at 5:00 AM, and closes at 7:00 AM, or when all 120 spaces are allocated.  Registration is $30.00, and a reduced rate for SFVCC members.  All vehicles are required to stay in place until 1:00 PM.  Trophies are awarded at 12:30.  At the event’s conclusion, carefully exit by traveling north on Lincoln, then left on Federal.

For fire and pedestrian safety, a responsible adult driver is required to stay with the plated and insured vehicle during the event.  No vehicles on trailers will be registered, and For Sale signs in the vehicle windows are not permitted. Sidewalks are to be kept clear for pedestrians, and no commercial setups are allowed. The SFVCC reserves the right to enforce these common sense guidelines and to prohibit nonconforming participants. With registration, entrants agree to the above terms and conditions.

It is important to remember that we are guests of a 400 year old historic site and the City of Santa Fe. Expect an enthusiastic pedestrian crowd of approximately 20,000.  Without question, this is the city’s premier specialty vehicle event of the year.
